gnome-screenhot causes windows manager to freeze

Bug description:
when running gnome-screenshot -i and selecting "select area to grab",
the main window disappears, changes the cursor to the crosshairs, then
reappears suddenly. At that point, the gnome windows manager is
frozen, and switching windows can only be done with keyboard
shortcuts.
