Bug description:
  * Impact
  The desktop session can close in some cases when using xvfb

  * Test case
  $ Xvfb -ac :100 2> Xvfb.log &
  $ export DISPLAY=:100
  $ gnome-session --session=ubuntu

  * Regression potential
  The change is a simple variable init in the display code, check that the 
greeter stills load correctly in normal and remote cases
