That upstream bug sounds indeed similar to the problem you're observing,
but given that it's closed, it's unlikely to receive attention. Can you

  Copy / paste in Firefox randomly broken

Bug description:
  Most of the time (but not always), when i copy content from an
  application (for example Gedit) to Firefox, the pasted content doesn't
  match what was copied. If I then try to paste in another application,
  the right content is pasted.

  I have to copy / paste the same content several times before the right
  content finally gets pasted to Firefox.
