Bug description:
The symptoms here for me are exactly the same as described in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-
desktop-icons/+bug/1912246 where after starting up my Groovy system
with X11 and proprietary NVIDIA drivers the desktop session just hangs
for a minute or so.
However I have the desktop-icons extension disabled now, so I think
it's highly unlikely that that extension is the cause of this hang.
Looking through the gnome-shell logs, I see some related things for
the ubuntu-dock extension:
