Public bug reported:
I have tried to create a 2 GB swap partition on a GPT disk using both the
gnome-disk-utility and gparted.
My system is a Virtualbox VM with the standard vdi file, that I did grow in
Virtualbox with 2 GB using the virtual media manager menu. It has been
impossible to create any partition in that 2 GB free space using those
utilities. Both first promoted to extend the last partition and when I refused
and used Apply for the new partition, they both did give the notorious
partitioning error message and nothing changed on the disk.
In the end I added the virtual disk to a Windows 10 VM and I used
Windows 10 to create a NTFS partition in that free space. After
reloading Xubuntu I used gparted to format the partition to a Linux swap
partition and that is what I use now after editing fstab.
