This might be acceptable on an iPhone, which is where they actually got the limit from, but it is not at all acceptable for an actual large computer screen. It looks farcical. Even the spacing prior to Ubuntu 20.10 (Gnome 3.38) was much too wide, but this is MUCH MUCH WORSE. It looks like previously it was limited to only ~ 6x12 which was still pretty bad. See the attached screenshot of what this looks like on Gnome 3.36 vs 3.38. Also notice there is more than one page of apps on 3.38 and that it only shows 4x6 at maximum. 🤦 As you will notice this is a 4K screen at 100 dpi, its not a small screen, but is being treated like its a phone.
