This might be fixed, in quick test I was not able to reproduce this.

Title:
  large window frames misrender

Status in metacity package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: metacity

I have a wide screen. And when I maximise windows the drag bar at the
top misrenders above 3349 pixels wide. It just seems to run out of
picture on the right end. I can recreate this effect on small screens
by pushing the window off the left edge and widening. I'm guessing
this is a metacity bug, but it might be something else. I do not have
compiz running. It does not happen with xfwm. I have attached a
screenshot - the bit with import bisect is actually leftovers from
  another window.
