Public bug reported: Yesterday (2021-04-14) I ran apt update/upgrade, then rebooted my laptop overnight. With the upgrade Linux 5.4.0-71 was installed. Now I have an issue where gnome-shell restarts repeatedly. Looking in the logs, I see that gnome-shell is core dumping when this occurs. I have not (yet) identified any behavior that causes the problem.
I disabled extensions with the Gnome Tweak Tool and rebooted into the previous Linux version but the problem remains. This may be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1923864 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924606 as the symptoms are similar and both have been reported in within the correct time frame. The contents of the log file from an instance of this occurring is attached. I am using Ubuntu 20.04.2 gnome-shell version is 3.36.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 Please let me know if you have any questions.
