Can you go to the Skype Options and select the Video Devices page and tell us what it displays under 'Select Webcam'.
Have you got more than one web cam listed? Also can you test it using Cheese (you may have to install it). Its is worth noting that both Skype and the Googletalk-browser plugin are proprietary software that may have capabilities to recognise web cams that other Linux programs cannot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/819705 Title: Audio and Video-chat doesn't work at all Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The menu-entries for audio and video cha are grayed out, even for my contacts which are using Jabber or Googletalk.
