Title:
[MIR] libayatana-indicator
Status in libayatana-indicator package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
* Availability
It's available on the Ubuntu supported architectures
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libayatana-indicator/0.8.4-1
The package is in sync with Debian
* Rationale
The source is a community maintained replacement for our current
libindicator. Debian has transitioned and we plan to follow their lead
now, demoting libindicator to universe until we can remove it from the
archive.
The binary to promote is libayatana-indicator3-7
The request is low priority, it's a target of opportunity transition,
it doesn't need to land this cycle
* Security
There is no known security issues
https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/source-package/libayatana-indicator
https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/pkg/libayatana-indicator.html
https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey.cgi?keyword=libayatana-indicator
* Quality assurance
The desktop team is going to subscribe to the package
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libayatana-indicator/+bugs
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=libayatana-indicator
The source depends on some outdated libraries but that's because there
are still old applications needing it, that's already the case with
our libindicator so not a change of status
The package enables upstream tests during the build and those are
successfult.
There is no test nor autopkgtest in this package, but that's a situation not
really different from our current indicator libraries. The issue has been
reported to Debian and they are working on adding some now
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=982843
* Dependencies
Depends: libayatana-ido3-0.4-0 (>= 0.8.0), libc6 (>= 2.4), libgdk-
pixbuf-2.0-0 (>= 2.22.0), libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.37.3), libgtk-3-0 (>=
3.21.4)
Currently libayatana-ido is in universe, that's MIR bug #1915561
* Standards compliance
current 4.5.1 standards-version, debhelper compat 13, dh style simple
rules
* Maintenance
Upstream is active, the package is maintained in Debian and desktop
team is going to sign up for Ubuntu
