Title:
  Cannot reply to PGP-encrypted email despite OpenPGP being configured
  for account - thunderbird claims missing signing certificate

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description:  Ubuntu 21.04
  Release:      21.04

  $ apt-cache policy thunderbird
  thunderbird:
    Installed: 1:78.8.1+build1-0ubuntu1
    Candidate: 1:78.8.1+build1-0ubuntu1
    Version table:
   *** 1:78.8.1+build1-0ubuntu1 500
          500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hirsute/main amd64 Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

  Situation:
  Both PGP and S/MIME configured for an account, all credentials up to date and
configured for the identity of the account. The chosen OpenPGP key has both a
sign/certify primary key, and an encryption subkey.

  What I expect to happen:
  When receiving an email encrypted with PGP/GPG I expect to be able to
respond, encrypted with OpenPGP.

  What happens:
  I can decrypt the email, I can hit respond, but then receive the error:

  "You specified that this message should be digitally signed, but the
  application either failed to find the signing certificate specified in
  your Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings, or the certificate has
  expired."

  The "Options" -> "Encryption Technology" is set to S/MIME and choosing
  OpenPGP is not possible (grey).

  I'm surprised first, that I cannot choose OpenPGP (since the original
  sender does not have an S/MIME certificate and using OpenPGP is the
  only option to communicate securely in this case), and that apparently
  the *signing certificate* was missing.

  I searched the web a bit, some people suggested to reconfigure the key
  chosen with the account, but this does not change anything in my case.

  Sending the same person an email and encrypting it with OpenPGP works
  like a charm, it only fails when I reply to their emails.
