So far this seems to be working correctly on Thunderbird 91.

Title:
Updates to Google Calender succeed but produce MODIFICATION_FAILED
  error

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After upgrading to Ubuntu 21.10 and Thunderbird
1:78.13.0+build1-0ubuntu2, creating, updating, or deleting events in
Google Calendar often produces a MODIFICATION_FAILED error, but
succeeds anyway. The events are shown in the Google Calendar web
interface, and exiting and restarting Thunderbird shows them locally.

This problem seems to only happen if Thunderbird has been running for
a while (overnight, for example). It never seems to happen immediately
after restarting Thunderbird. Perhaps Thunderbird's connection to
Google is getting stuck after a while? I am using hotel internet
access, which is not always the most reliable or consistent, and I
have noticed this problem on two different hotel networks in the last
  few days.

This problem did not happen on Ubuntu 21.04 and whatever version of
  Thunderbird it uses.
