Public bug reported:
After connecting camera (or Android smartphone) to PC, to import new photos,
Shotwell displays error message:
"The camera is locked by another application. Shotwell can only access the
camera when it's unlocked. Please close any other application using the camera
and try again."
While this is not a huge issue for advanced user (just unmount camera
from File manager and open camera page in Shotwell again), for an
average user or beginner this is a huge problem and workaround adds
quite a few unnecessary steps. Especially when import procedure was
working correctly on earlier Ubuntu 16.04 version.
Additional information:
1) Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
2) shotwell 0.30.10-0ubuntu0.1
3) What you expected to happen
After connecting camera Shotwell should display "Import photos" page without
errors or at least help to unmount camera in case File Manager or other
application has "locked" it first.
How about adding "Unmount camera" button to same error dialog and refreshing
camera page after completing unmount?
4) What happened instead
Shotwell displays error message:
"The camera is locked by another application. Shotwell can only access the
camera when it's unlocked. Please close any other application using the camera
and try again."
