We don't need to track gnome-shell for this. I already know that at least in more recent versions of gnome-shell it unloads extensions when the screen is locked. When that change happened doesn't matter -- it's either Fix Released or not relevant here. The "not relevant" case would be if gnome-shell-extension-appindicator was failing to shutdown/unload when instructed.
This means either: (a) This bug is still open in gnome-shell-extension-appindicator only; or (b) This bug was already fixed in newer versions of gnome-shell. ** No longer affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-appindicator in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951098 Title: When screen is locked app indicators are still usable Status in gnome-shell-extension-appindicator package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: ubuntu 20.04.3 lts latest updates When screen is locked the top bar with apps (on the right) shows.
