Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. We are sorry that we do not
always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely
manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time. Your problem may have been fixed with
some of the updates.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-life on April 29, 2021.

Due to the time that has elapsed since your initial bug report I'm
changing the status to 'Incomplete'.

If this issue is still present in a currently supported release of
Ubuntu then please add a comment here telling us which new version it is
in and change the bug status to 'New'.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

Title:
Upgraded from 14 to 16, mouse extremely slow and erratic

Status in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Mouse sensitivity had to be cranked to full and it still barely moved.

  Found and ran:

  xinput set-prop 12 264 1.2

To increase even further, however it feels really wrong and I either
overshoot or undershoot. (Perhaps I'm used to accel/decel without
knowing it and the values are different now?)

The mouse also freezes randomly if I just do modest speed circles
around the screen. Once every 5-10 circles.

Also the touch once to simulate left click, seems finicky. It's not
replicating this instant, but it was when I was running Ubuntu About
  -> Check Updates.

I'm currently searching through forums for possible solutions. I'm not
sure what driver the previous version was using compared to this.

The laptop is an Acer c720 chromebook which I believe "was" running
HugeGreenBug distribution based on Ubuntu. Basically, a bunch of
drivers already setup so the trackpad works, the sound works, etc.

I believe this is it: (It was installed before I purchased the
  laptop.)

I was under the impression that an Ubuntu Upgrade button wouldn't be
there and informing me of a potential update... unless the update was
a supported option. Not saying you guys broke anything, but I guess I
assumed it wouldn't be touching anything related to the specific
  changes.

I don't know. Anyway, if you see this and get back to me, thank you
  very much for your time.
