Thank you for your bug report, could you add your .xsession-errors to the bug when getting the issue? It's likely that gvfs-ftp is segfaulting or something, could you attach gdb on it after it's started to see if that happens?

This happens not only now but also in former times very often. Using the old school gftp works very secure. I use gftp with passive mode and this is was always a good choice for me.
