Kernel Update 3.13.0-32-generic overwrites xorg.conf

Bug description:
When Lubuntu updated to kernel 3.13.0-32-generic from
3.13.0-30-generic the xorg.conf was renamed to xorg.conf.071714. After
renaming file back to xorg.conf and reverting back to
3.13.0-30-generic, no problems with video resolution. Confirmed this
behavior several times.
System is Dell 1501 with Lubuntu 14.04.
