Title:
XDMCP sessions show "Oh no!" screen instead of greeter

Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
On both Impish and Jammy, gdm3 does not offer greeter to XDMCP
sessions. Instead, it shows the "Oh no! Something has gone wrong"
image on the root window. This indicates that the XDMCP part is
working, but the session is not.

Expected: remote sessions should work out of the box.
