You're right. We need both codesearch lists. I believe updating the distro packages is doable for Jammy but I am willing to wait for 22.10 if you don't think it's a good idea now.
For our LTS users as long as they're using distro packages, it shouldn't make a difference which way we go. I think it may be slightly better for the few third-party app developers that call gnome-control-center to use the new name since they can use the new name and not worry about the old name as long as they don't care about old distro versions. I couldn't find any Snap packages that successfully call gnome-control- center. I'm curious to see how that would break. Maybe if we do the rename we can add a compatibility hidden .desktop. I've never done the compatibility D-Bus thing before but I think something in GNOME did it a few years ago. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1964136 Title: Settings item not shown in System menu Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Version (in jammy-proposed): 42~beta-1ubuntu1 Please see screenshot.
