Thanks for the bug report.

The "Native Windows taller than 65535 pixels are not supported" message
seems to have been occurring in cheese and totem bug reports for several
years already, according to a search of my email. So I don't think
that's the cause here.

This bug should be about "Error reading events from display: Protocol
error". See also bug 1965563.
