Thanks for the bug report. Firstly, you are using the (low quality) open source 'nouveau' graphics driver. It is known to cause such problems so please start by using the 'Additional Drivers' app to install an official Nvidia driver.
After installing the driver and rebooting, if the problem still occurs then please follow the steps in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: multimonitor nouveau -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1975445 Title: Crash back to login screen when connecting external monitor in 22.04 LTS Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I upgraded my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS using do-release-upgrade -d command on 2022/05/20 And then my external monitor, who worked well before on 20.04 LTS, was never able to connect. Everytime I try to connect it, set Joint Displays and press apply on the setting panel, the system crashes and goes back to login screen. When I switch to Windows on the same computer, external monitor is able to connect. Bug only appears on the new 22.04 LTS. System info: Device: Dell Inc.
