Those messages from the log look innocent enough to me. So the backups
themselves work correctly, but when we get to the verification step at
the end, you see an unknown error? No further output in that dialog?

The verification step tries to restore a canary file we insert in the
backup, just to ensure that files can be restored from the new backup.
So something is going wrong with that sample restore...

Bug description:
  I removed the cache and start a backup in console like

  DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup

  and got during verification the Unknown Error with following final
  outputs
