Hi I am glad I am not alone, Libre Office does not get any further than a flashing icon when starting up and crashes out. This happened after an upgrade to Kubuntu 11.10.
In the terminal you get paul@paul-Ei-205:~$ libreoffice terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException' paul@paul-Ei-205:~$ I think this is the same bug, not sure, as the description of the problem at start of thread is the same.
