The default gsettings value is 10 seconds indeed:

  org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power idle-dim-time 10

I wouldn't mind if that was 30 seconds.

Title:
  Display fades too quickly

Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
With my laptop on battery the display goes from current brightness to
dim in 10 seconds. This seems way too short to me. I can barely read
half a page on the screen without having to either stab keys or
randomly move the mouse to keep the screen alive. A longer interval
  might be preferable?
