Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1999845 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. Please note that your report doesn't tell us: 1) The release of Ubuntu that you are using. 2) Whether you are using a 'snap' or 'deb' version of Firefox. 3) The URL of the file(s) in question so that others can also download and check to see if they also experience the same issue. 4) Mozilla Support's response to the problem. 5) Has a bug report been submitted to bugzilla.mozilla.org? I've just downloaded a PDF from my bank using Firefox 108 (snap) in Ubuntu 22.04 and it hasn't been marked as executable so further information is required from you in order to investigate the problem that you have reported. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - firefox says dowloaded pdf files are executable files + Firefox says downloaded PDF files are executable -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1999845 Title: Firefox says downloaded PDF files are executable Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Version 108.0 installed the other day. Just went to download the PDF of a journal article from one of the journals published by the American Chemical Society. “acs.chemrestox.2c00268-2.pdf” is an executable file. Executable files may contain viruses or other malicious code that could harm your computer. Use caution when opening this file. Are you sure you want to launch “acs.chemrestox.2c00268-2.pdf”? I reported this to the Mozilla Support Team about a month ago. Upgrade to V 108.0 did not solve this problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1999845/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
