Screensaver takes a long time to display the password unlock screen

Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When waking my laptop up from suspend I get a black screen with a
mouse cursor for some time before the unlock dialog appears. It seems

6 Seconds from opening the lid to seeing the mouse cursor.
10 furher seconds from the mouse cursor appearing until the unlock dialog
