Thanks for the bug report. This is likely to be caused by the 'nouveau' open source graphics driver. Please open the 'Additional Drivers' app and use it to install one of the proprietary NVIDIA drivers instead.

First, the application window becomes unresponsive, i.e. I still can move the mouse cursor around the screen, but clicking on graphical elements does not yield any effect. The same for the keyboard. Finally, even the mouse cursor freezes. The only thing I can do is a hard reset. As long as I work in the browser environment or the terminal console the problem doesn't happen.
