Indeed it seems to be the same issue -- probably not seen as a duplicate
by apport because this bug is reported for precise and the other for
oneiric? I'm marking this bug as a duplicate and make a comment at bug
#817861 mentioning the newer apport info here.

resubmitted as apport crash report for Precise]
Normally, middle clicking a folder in a Nautilus Window will open this
folder in a new tab. Doing this on the desktop, crashes nautilus, and
the desktop icons does not appear until you open a nautilus window.
