Title:
blank screen after mutter update
Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Hey,
running on Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS.
I upgraded mutter:amd64 (42.5-0ubuntu1 to 42.9-0ubuntu1) and suddenly
experienced the problem described here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1966808
black screen and logs like in #2 of above post.
My own Logs:
Jul 12 11:35:16 xxxxxx gnome-shell[1464]: Failed to lock front buffer on
/dev/dri/card0: drmModeAddFB2WithModifiers failed: Invalid argument
Jul 12 11:35:16 xxxxxx gnome-shell[1464]: Failed to lock front buffer on
/dev/dri/card0: drmModeAddFB2WithModifiers failed: Invalid argument
After some investigation and finally finding the bug above here adding
MUTTER_DEBUG_USE_KMS_MODIFIERS=0
to
/etc/environment
fixed it for me. Disabling wayland via /etc/gdm3/custom.conf worked as
a workaround, too.
Output of drm_info is attached.
thanks
