Screen flickers after opening lid...

Bug description:
After setting HandleLidSwitch=ignore (and also
HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore) in /etc/systemd/logind.conf, the screen
flickers, a lot, each time the lid is opened. More pronounced when the
mouse cursor is moved.
Occasionally, after a while (sometimes many minutes), the flickering
stops. However, closing and re-opening the lid causes the flickering
to start again. Often, it just keeps flickering ad infinitum.
Everything seems to work OK, and is not evident on the remote unit
when using remote-access to access the machine using VNC.
This is also happening on my Acer Travelmate 5730. I can send another
bug report for that one if required.
