the issue has nothing to do with gnome-session, likely either gnome-
panel rendering or the icon libreoffice provides

Bug description:
  When using gnome-session-fallback (GNOME Classic session / gnome-
  panel) then  LibreOffice icons are much larger image dimensions than
  the other icons in the menu.
