I think the next step is to monitor dbus to find out what is causing:
g-properties-changed on GDBusProxy
because it looks like the volume of events is the issue.

Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 23.10 the GUI is unresponsive during, maybe 30
seconds, then it works perfectly fine.
I connected via SSH to see what was happening in the logs when that happens
and it may be the logs collected, e.g.:
