Public bug reported:
Whenever my network connection is interrupted because of trouble with
wifi or vpn, after it is restored, thunderbird shows a progress bar for
hours/ever, suggesting it is trying to connect to my nntp server. There
doesn't seem to be a way to show or kill connection attempts, so the
only way to get thunderbird back in a useful state is to restart it.
This is extremely annoying.
