You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Clicking on the change status combobox in Pidgin does nothing. More
precisely, the status list appears and immediately disappears,
preventing status selection.
Expected behaviour: clicking on the combobox would show a list of
combobox items and allow them to be selected as the new status.
The current workaround is to click, hold the mouse button down, drag the
mouse to the desired status and then let go of the mouse button.
