Ah yes, confirmed that logo.png in unity-greeter_23.10.1-0ubuntu4 does
say "23.10". It must have been corrected during packaging. And that's
the package version also used by Ubuntu 24.04 (see
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-greeter).

Yes Ubuntu stopped using/developing Unity some years ago. It's only a
community project now. It might pay to do a fresh install of 24.04.1
when you can: https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

Bug description:
Since the LTS upgrade from 22.04 to 24.04.1 LTS the login screen
(plymouth?) shows the version as "Ubuntu 23.10", which has never been
installed on the system.
The image on the login screen shows the "Noble" coronet, which seems
correct.
All the other queries I have tried to display the version information
correctly display "24.04[.1]" and "Noble".
Not by any means a critical issue, but could be confusing to users!
