When rightclicking on some gui programs or when opening or closing them
they significantly slow down to the point that I am offered to force
quit or wait. waiting a couple of minutes solves is in most instances.
Rightclick menu never seems to show. Same issue seems to happen in some
menus of the apps bellow.
This started after I updated ubuntu to 24.04.01 after the update the following
apps have the same issue:
* gnome-terminal
* firefox
* evince
* gedit
* ubuntu-bug
* report a problem...
I have installed xubuntu,kubuntu,lubuntu and the issue presists. As an example
qterminal, vscodium, chromium, okular work without a hitch.
Te issue persists if I use weyland or Xorg.
firefox snap and firefox deb package suffer the same issue.
the above seems to me to indicate that it is gtk related and since it
happened after an update I think it should be the latest version. I
considered gstreamer but opted for common. This is all very new to me.

completed without a hickup. rebooted but issue persists.
