My VPN conf file had a cipher and, commented out, a data-cipher option.
I uncommented data-cipher and commented cipher and tried via gnome-
control-center to add that VPN instead. It worked in 24.10 and 24.04, I
can connect to that VPN normally (confirmed with IP) so I`m marking this
releaased there.
I`ll be test in 22.04 too because a comment mentions that release. The
original bug report is on 22.10 which is no longer supported.
A clearer reproduction case with release information would be still very
ewelcome.

Bug description:
Latest network-manager-openvpn still uses the deprecated --cipher
option, and offers no way to set the new --data-ciphers option.
nm-openvpn[257279]: OPTIONS ERROR: failed to negotiate cipher with server.
Add the server's cipher ('AES-256-CBC') to --data-ciphers (currently
'AES-256-GCM:AES-128-GCM:CHACHA20-POLY1305') if you want to connect to this
server.
nm-openvpn[257279]: ERROR: Failed to apply push options
nm-openvpn[257279]: Failed to open tun/tap interface
Using the command line and passing --data-ciphers option works.
