Bug description:
I have a couple different desktops installed on Ubuntu -- the regular
Ubuntu Wayland and Xorg, but also Gnome and Xubuntu. This installs
additional desktop artwork (wallpapers). As a result, when I open
Settings and go to the Appearance tab, everything suddenly slows down.
It then freezes, along with the rest of the desktop. Once it
eventually unsticks itself, whatever software I happen to have open --
usually Firefox, Thunderbird, and Discord -- have shut off.
I've checked the logs -- there seems to be some issue with large
amounts of memory being used, resulting in Ubuntu shutting down
Firefox/Thunderbird/Discord, and the gnome-control-center / app-
gnome.org.gnome.Settings failing to respond. This is the message I
found in Logs afterwards:

I'm currently using Ubuntu 24.10 on Xorg, but I've had this issue on
Wayland as well.
