A Custom Shortcut added in the keyboard configuration under the key combination SUPER+O is ignored. If I repeat the same process but instead select SUPER+K, the shortcut works as intended.
This is in spite of the fact that the problem combination SUPER+O is not used anywhere, or at least it does not show when I use the "search shortcuts" functionality. Trying other combinations of the form SUPER+<KEY> I noticed a seemingly random behavior, where e.g. SUPER+P fails and SUPER+J works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2013233 Title: Custom shortcuts with super key are hit-or-miss Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Some custom shortcuts with super key will not work. The failing ones I found: Super + {1..9} -------------- These will say > Super+{Number} is already being used for Activate favorite app 9. If you replace it, Activate favorite app 9 will be disabled. That is not what happens though; rather the old binding is not relinquished. Super + o --------- Assigning this gives no such notice as above, however it is assigned disable orientation lock. I followed the answer in https://askubuntu.com/questions/1179858/disable-orientation-lock- shortcut-super-o-in-ubuntu-18-04-gnome, namely gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys rotate-video-lock-static [] log out/log in and now the shortcut works. Conclusion ---------- gnome-control-center should either say it's not possible to map such combinations or honor the override.
