I took at stab at this and haven't had any luck reproducing the issue
from the source build (no patch):
wtcline@wtcline-desk13:~/mesa-24.0.9$ glxgears
MESA: error: ZINK: failed to choose pdev
glx: failed to create drisw screen
X connection to :0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
wtcline@wtcline-desk13:~/mesa-24.0.9$
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ glxgears
X connection to :0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
Both invocations drew the gears. I didn't do anything more advanced
than:
$ apt-get build-deps mesa
$ apt-get source mesa
$ cd mesa-24.0.9
$ mkdir build
$ cd build
$ meson ..
$ sudo ninja install
Not sure what to make of this result.
