Status in Nautilus: Fix Released Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in mutter source package in Noble: Fix Committed Bug description: [ Impact ] Users in locales that require the IBus input method to compose text in their native languages(Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) cannot input native text during the file renaming operation in the GNOME Files application, which will cause great frustration and reduces their confidence of using the Ubuntu Desktop. [ Test Plan ] 1. Install the ibus-chewing package. 2. In the Keyboard > Input Sources panel of the Settings application, click the "Add Input Source..." button and add the Chinese(Chewing) input source. 3. Launch the Text Editor application as a control group, ensure that the focus is in the text input area. 4. Press the Super + Space key combination to switch the input source to Chinese(Chewing), an input source switching interface/animation should appear. 5. Subsequently press H, K, 4, Enter, a Chinese character with the "ㄘㄜˋ" pronunciation(e.g. 冊) should be successfully committed into the text input area. 6. Launch the Files application(Nautilus). 7. Edit an existing file's filename, in the filename input popup press the Super + Space key combination switch to the Chinese(Chewing) input source(if not already activated) then press the aforementioned keystroke sequence, you should be able to enter a Chinese character(instead of literal keystroke being inserted to the filename input popup). [ Where problems could occur ] The application may not receive user input or react incorrectly. [ Other Info ] This patch may become redundant if the 46.3 point release patches are backported as it is one of them. [ Original bug report ] # lsb_release -rd No LSB modules are available.
