I confirm that this issue (at least the original ibus regression in 1.5.29-rc2 and 1.5.29) is still present in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, as we get multiple duplicate bug reports for this issue in Godot Engine downstream:
https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/85664 We used to get reports from other distros when they were on 1.5.29-rc2 or 1.5.29, but most have since moved to 1.5.30 or later and fixed that regression. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is still stuck on 1.5.29. Could you consider upgrading to 1.5.30, or backporting the fix to 1.5.29? This seems to be the fix (didn't test backporting it to confirm): https://github.com/ibus/ibus/commit/719792d300579c1bfdf43251a83c6ed4e5594c07 I'm not sure Ubuntu ibus maintainers are properly CC'ed in this bug report as it was originally filed against another package. Could a bug triager familiar with Ubuntu's teams make sure this is properly seen by relevant maintainers? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064025 Title: Ubuntu 24.04: Accented characters persisting in gnome-text-editor (in X11 session) Status in ibus: Unknown Status in ibus package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: In the GNOME text editor, after typing an accent (e.g., "~"), the symbol remains visible at the cursor location instead of disappearing after subsequent character input.
