Crashes Unity/GNOME on opening large JPG

Bug description:
1. Download NASA's new image of the Earth (16 MB) from here:
<http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/618486main_earth_full.jpg>
2. Dbl click on it.
3. After it loads, Unity crashes (including all applications) and login
screen is displayed.
Not sure if it's related, but before this I experimented with themes
in gnome-tweak-tool.
