Just to prove the fix is real, it's in progress here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/vanvugt/mutter/-/commits/render-source
There is still work required to implement secondary GPU support which is what the majority of Nvidia users need on hybrid laptops. I'm not sure it would be safe to attempt patching 25.10 at this late stage given the code's not even finished yet, but a PPA will be available. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2081140 Title: Poor desktop frame rate in Nvidia Wayland sessions Status in Mutter: New Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: On a desktop with a single Nvidia GPU and single monitor, desktop performance is poor in Wayland sessions. The main culprit seems to be that all rendering gets deferred until meta_drm_buffer_gbm_new_lock_front by the Nvidia driver, which blocks the main loop at a time we are not optimised to handle blocking.
