Public bug reported: Annotations added to a pdf never print. They display in Evice GUI fine.
This appears to happen because an "Advanced Print Option" (as Adobe calls it) must be set for annotations to be included when printing. At https://www.ronny-mueller.com/2024/04/02/howto-print-pdf-textmarker-in- evince/ there are instructions for adding code to the pdf (/F 4) which sets this option. Manually editing .pdf files with e.g. "vim -b" works for some files but renders other files corrupted -- I suspect because if the file contains a cryptographic checksum then changing it at all makes it unusable. So Evince needs to generate this properly. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Open any pdf 2. Select some text with the mouse 3. Rightclick->Highlight Selected Text 4. Control-P (print) 5. Click "Preview" button (or Print) RESULTS: Highlighting is missing EXPECTED: Highlighting should be printed. evince --version : GNOME Document Viewer 46.3.1 Ubuntu 24.04 LTS ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Annotations added to a pdf never print.
