Title:
Spellcheck problems with capitalisation
Status in “enchant” package in Ubuntu:

Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gedit
When gedit finds a misspelling, it doesn't do a good job of taking
capitalisation into account.
For example, the misspelled word "Iittle" (note the upper-case "i")
gives the suggestions "Tittle", "Little", "Vittles"...all of which
have the first letter capitalised. However, it doesn't suggest at all
"little" with a lower-case "L" as a possibility, but instead assumes
that the original capitalisation is correct.
This problem happens in the opposite direction too: "WAlT" (note the
lower-case "L") gives the suggestions "Walt", "Alt", "Waltz",
"Wale","Welt","Wast", "Wait" ... "WAIT" in all-caps isn't even listed
as a possibility. Again, it's assigning too much importance to the
capitalisation of the first letter, and not enough to the rest.
Since gedit uses enchant for spell-checking, I'll also assign this bug
to enchant. However, gedit could be doing a better job with sorting
the suggestions ("wast" before "wait"??)
