Title:
Evolution stores mail insecurely
Status in The Evolution Mail & Calendaring Tool:
Expired
Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Binary package hint: evolution
The default file permissions for mailbox folders under
./evolution/mail/local/ include world-readability. As a result,
anyone with access to the system, who can determine the path to the
mailstore is able to review all mail. While cleartext email is
inherently insecure, most mailtools take effort to ensure that
mailspools and mail directories are neither group nor world readable,
to raise the effort required to read others mail on a shared system.
