Title: Touchpad and trackpoint glitches on Lenovo Thinkpad L520 Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When I first installed Oneiric, both touchpad and trackpoint worked fine (almost): both pointing devices were listed in "Pointing devices" application, settings like scrolling emulation for trackpoint and two-finger scrolling for touchpad worked too. The only problem was "lost synchronization" message in log which were accompanied by temporary (1-3 secs) freeze of pointer from time to time (approximately one time per 10 minutes). Both pointing devices successfully survived suspend-to-ram. Recent update has changed all. Here is excerpt from package list change of etckeeper: date: Fri Jan 20 00:33:16 2012 +0700 Package changes: -libgudev-1.0-0 1:173-0ubuntu4 +libgudev-1.0-0 1:173-0ubuntu4.1 -libudev0 173-0ubuntu4 +libudev0 173-0ubuntu4.1 -udev 173-0ubuntu4 +udev 173-0ubuntu4.1 -x11-common 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +x11-common 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 -xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 -xserver-xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +xserver-xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 -xserver-xorg-input-all 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +xserver-xorg-input-all 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 -xserver-xorg-video-all 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 +xserver-xorg-video-all 1:7.6+7ubuntu7.1 # Now both trackpoint and touchpad doesn't work right after boot in half of cases. # Even if they work after boot, they often stop working after approximately an hour of uptime. # Even if they work after an hour of uptime, they loose scrolling function and start detecting as mouse, not touchpad/trackpoint. # Additionally instead of random freezes trackpoint now goes crazy and starts jumping on screen and clicking everywhere for two seconds. # Both trackpoint and touchpad don't survive suspend-to-ram. # Sometimes when trackpoint works after boot it behaves very strange: pushing stick to the left causes pointer to move to the left but then immediately move back half of runned way. Pointing devices are almost completely unusable now! What I've tried: # Load older kernel - doesn't work. # sudo modprobe -r psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse - doesn't work # Turn off "disable touchpad on typing" - doesn't work Excerpt from /var/log/kern.log: Feb 7 12:01:39 kriomant-laptop kernel: [ 25.392134] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 7.2, id: 0x1c0b1, caps: 0xd047b3/0xb40000/0xa0000 Feb 7 12:01:39 kriomant-laptop kernel: [ 25.392141] serio: Synaptics pass-through port at isa0060/serio1/input0 Feb 7 12:01:39 kriomant-laptop kernel: [ 25.438392] input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input6 Feb 7 12:01:39 kriomant-laptop kernel: [ 25.476716] rts_pstor: device scan complete Feb 7 12:01:39 kriomant-laptop kernel: [ 28.242126] trackpoint.c: failed to get extended button data Feb 7 12:01:39 kriomant-laptop kernel: [ 30.294340] IBM TrackPoint firmware: 0x0e, buttons: 0/0 Feb 7 12:01:39 kriomant-laptop kernel: [ 30.468148] input: TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2/input/input14 Feb 7 21:44:55 kriomant-laptop kernel: [34980.112787] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 4 Feb 7 21:44:55 kriomant-laptop kernel: [34980.115095] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1 Feb 7 21:44:55 kriomant-laptop kernel: [34980.125416] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynched.
