closing the ubuntu bug, it's a corner case, not requested a lot and we
don't have the resources to work on that

Title:
Notify user if /tmp has more than 5000 files

Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

gnome-settings-daemon already warns the user if the disk is running
out of space. However I have also had problems when the /tmp directory
has more than 5000 files. The system goes very slowly and seems to
  stop caching data.

Perhaps the gnome-settings-daemon could alert the user if `ls /tmp/ |
wc -l` is greater than 5000? There may be a more elegant solution, but
rebooting seems to help when there are too many files in /tmp, so
perhaps the dialog could suggest rebooting.
