Title:
No notification about failed mount of usb drive

Status in Nautilus:
  Won't Fix
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Attaching an USB drive to my laptop normally brings up an icon on the
desktop which allows me to access that drive. In case of an error
while mounting the drive, nothing happens at all - not even a
notification of the failure or why it failed. The system log shows
  following messages:

Nov 19 01:38:21 localhost kernel: [17288890.176000] usb 5-8: new high speed
USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6
  Nov 19 01:38:21 localhost kernel: [17288890.312000] usb 5-8: configuration #1
chosen from 1 choice
  Nov 19 01:38:21 localhost kernel: [17288890.312000] scsi3 : SCSI emulation
for USB Mass Storage devices
Nov 19 01:38:32 localhost kernel: [17288901.036000] usb 5-8: USB disconnect,
address 6
  Nov 19 01:38:32 localhost kernel: [17288901.036000] 3:0:0:0: scsi: Device
offlined - not ready after error recovery

It would be good practice to inform the user about the failure - in
this case a NTFS file system which was not cleanly shut down.
